Bd Cytosin (Flucytosine) is a synthetic antifungal agent used in the treatment of various fungal infections. It is also known as 5-fluorocytosine, and it works by inhibiting the growth of fungi by disrupting their DNA synthesis. Bd Cytosin is available in the form of a capsule containing 300 mcg of Flucytosine as the active ingredient. Mechanism of Action: Flucytosine is converted into 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) by fungal cells. This conversion is carried out by the enzyme cytosine deaminase. 5-FU is a potent inhibitor of thymidylate synthase, which is essential for the synthesis of DNA. As a result, fungal growth is inhibited, and the infection is controlled.
